Frequently asked question prior to installation

About the process

Q. Can it process anything/any materials?
URBAN RIG can process anything excluding poisonous and deleterious substances (eg. radio active substances, PCB), a gas cylinder (may cause explosion). Substances with boiling point higher than 600℃, such as metal, glass, sand, will remain in the reactor in a unchanged state.
Q. How does the unit operate to produce recycled resources?
By injecting superheated steam, resins are distilled and vaporized by a thermal reaction, then cooled to extract liquified fuel oil.
Q.How long does a single process take?
The standard processing time for a batch input type (single reactor) is about 10 hours and a half. The processing time varies depending on the purpose and what you input.
Q. How much is the running cost for electricity, fuel, etc. for a 1 ton processing unit?
*Running cost of the processor when operated in Japan. (Written all in Yen)
*Values when resin-based wastes were processed.

Electricity bill (three-phase 200V) / Per month: basic charge 1100 yen, electricity charge 16 yen × 15 kwh × 30 days = 8300 yen
Water bill (50 L / day): 50 L x 1.5 yen / L x 30 days = 2250 yen
Fuel costs are covered by reuse of recovered fuel oil.

Q.Does the process require prior sorting/separation of the waste?
Mixed items such as general household waste can be processed without any prior sorting.
Q.Combustible waste and recyclable waste are being separated now, is it possible to process them in a mixed condition?
The URBAN RIG was developed to process mixed waste. It is able to process through batch input.
Q.Is it possible to process infectious waste, virus-contaminated material, etc.?
It can be processed. (With some exception depending on the condition.) Infectious medical waste is sterilized through an autoclave environment, then processed to reduce the volume and recover fuel oil.

About the unit

Q.How big is the processor?
Please refer to the pamphlet for the size of each processor.
Q.How much is the fee needed for installation?
Please contact us from the website.
The fee varies with processing capacity, also the need of auxiliary equipment, depending on the input items.

About the collected items

Q.What do you do with the collected fuel oil post processing?
The recovered fuel oil is reused as a fuel for its own operation, also an optional power generation system is used for in-house power generation. By distilling, its separated into light oil and heavy oil, for us to easily reuse in our daily life.
Q.What is the use of carbides left in the reactor?
It is mixed with a small amount of heavy oil, processed into a briquette, and used as bioelectric power generation fuel for a boiler.
It can also be used as a dehumidifying agent for buildings and as a deodorant by mixing it with a plant coagulant such as agar.
Similarly, it can be processed as briquette and used as an emergency fuel for disasters.
Q.Is there anything thats collected other than oil and carbides during or post process?
Organic carbides, metals, glasses, gravel, sand, etc. will remain in the reactor.

About the impact on the environment

Q.Is any harmful substances such as dioxins are emitted during the process?
Dioxins are not emitted, due to the fact that the reaction is a thermal reaction in an anoxic condition, not a combustion.
Q.What happens to the odor of the household garbage and rotten smells?
After input, no odor of ammonia or nitrogen is generated due to thermal decomposition.
Depending on the local environment, equipment such as deodorizer is required for primary storage before input.
For oily offgas, it is necessary to install a flue gas purification device as a deodorizer.
Q.How noisy is the operating noise?
Noise sources include a cooling tower used to lower the water temperature in the heat exchanger, a water pump (which operates from time to time), and a flue gas purifier (fan).
All of them use Japanese Industrial Standard products, so that they are within the noise standards, but in some areas such as residential areas, it may be necessary to take measures such as installing soundproof walls.
Q.Won't it explode?
Since the reactor is operated in an oxygen-free state, combustion explosion does not occur.

About the track records of installation

Q.Is there an unit that is operating in Japan?
URBAN RIG is operating in Toyooka city – Hyogo, Fukuroi city – Shizuoka, Fuji city – Shizuoka, Okayama city – Okayama.
Q.What kind of industry is it mainly installed in?
Currently, it has been widely used as a device for metal recovery purposes in Japan. (As of 2020.01.)
Regarding enquiries, it is demanded to process waste plastic processing in the industrial waste processing industry, general waste from municipalities, medical waste, and so on in a large-scale.
Q.Do you have a track record abroad?
URBAN RIG has a track record in China.
